Recap of Babes, Booze & Business – Our 5th Meetup at The Blind Pig: Visibility, Knowledge, and the Power of Your 30-Second Elevator Pitch

Our 5th Babes, Booze & Business meetup on April 6th, 2022, was a roaring success! Hosted at the lively The Blind Pig DeLand bar, we had an incredible turnout and a packed house of women entrepreneurs ready to learn, connect, and grow. It was an evening of inspiration, empowerment, and practical advice—all made possible by our amazing community of businesswomen.

We were honored to be hosted by Sarah Hancock, a local business owner whose generosity and hospitality set the tone for an unforgettable evening. Not only did we enjoy a great atmosphere, but we also had the privilege of hearing from two powerhouse Realtors who shared their insights on what it truly takes to succeed in business.

Let’s dive into the key highlights of this fantastic event!

The Importance of Being Visible and Knowledgeable in Your Community

Our featured speakers for the evening were Edit Perez and Tanya Donahoe, two dynamic real estate professionals who know firsthand the power of community presence and deep product knowledge. As partners in business, they discussed how visibility and expertise are essential to building trust and driving success.

They emphasized how important it is for entrepreneurs to be present in the community—whether it's attending events, hosting workshops, or just interacting with local customers. Visibility creates familiarity, and familiarity leads to trust, which ultimately converts to sales.

But being visible isn’t enough on its own. You must also know your product inside and out. Whether you're selling homes, beauty products, or business services, your ability to speak confidently about what you're offering sets you apart from the competition. The more knowledgeable you are about your product, the easier it will be to build credibility with clients and establish yourself as a go-to expert in your field.

The Realtors also shared tips on how to network authentically, reminding us that relationships are built over time and through trust. As entrepreneurs, it’s vital that we show up not just as sellers, but as genuine community members who truly care about what we offer.

Packed House + New Networking Opportunity: Bring a Door Prize

Our meetup saw a packed house—and we couldn’t have been more thrilled to see so many women coming together to support each other and learn from one another. One of the most exciting new additions to our events is the introduction of door prizes. We’re now encouraging attendees to bring a door prize from their business as a way to showcase their products and solidify their business name in the minds of potential clients. It's a fantastic way to give back to the community, promote your services, and potentially gain new leads—all while keeping the atmosphere fun and engaging.

This was a great way to get everyone involved and encourage members to share their business in a meaningful and tangible way. Whether it’s a free consultation, a product sample, or a special discount, these prizes give everyone a chance to showcase what they do and make lasting impressions on attendees.

The 30-Second Elevator Pitch: A Game-Changer

One of the most valuable parts of the evening was when we all shared our 30-second elevator pitches. If you’ve ever struggled to explain what you do in a clear and concise way, you’re not alone—but perfecting this pitch is one of the most important things you can do for your business. Alexandra Walker reinforced how important it is to be able to grab someone’s attention within the first 30 seconds. If you can’t capture their interest right away, you may lose that potential client before you’ve even had a chance to explain the real value of your business. A well-crafted elevator pitch does just that—it gives you the opportunity to spark curiosity and build a connection in a short amount of time.

We each took turns practicing our elevator pitch, and it was amazing to hear everyone’s unique story and the different ways we are all positioning ourselves in the market. For many, this exercise was a real game-changer—helping refine the way we communicate about our businesses and ensuring that we can quickly and effectively convey our value.

As we wrapped up the night, we left feeling more confident about our pitches, our businesses, and our ability to build real connections with potential clients and customers.

Closing Thoughts: Empowerment, Connection, and Growth

Overall, our 5th Babes, Booze & Business meetup was an incredible evening of learning, networking, and support. We walked away feeling more empowered, more connected to our community, and better equipped to face the challenges of running our own businesses. We can’t wait to see how everyone applies the tips they learned—from being more visible in their communities to perfecting their elevator pitch.

A huge thank you to Sarah Hancock and The Blind Pig for hosting us, and to our incredible speakers Edit Perez and Tanya Donahoe for sharing their expertise. And of course, thank you to everyone who attended, brought a door prize, and shared their 30-second elevator pitch!
